It’s been awhile since I watch a good anime. Few weeks back, a friend recommended me to watch Death Note and after watching the first episode it has me completely hooked.
Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the “Death Note”, lying on the ground in the Year 2003. The Death Note’s instructions claim that, if a human’s name is written within it, that person shall die.
To put it simple, Death Note is not your regular anime where it offers an unusual perspective on certain issues which make it intriguing to watch. With an amazing storyline, it invites you to think and comprehend the situation along with the character.
Coincidentally, Death Note live action movie is currently showing in Malaysia. The movie starring Tatsuya Fujiwara as Light Yagami and Ken’ichi Matsuyama as L. Tatsuya Fujiwara is mostly known from his part as Shuya Nanahara in a Japanese film — Battle Royale (2000) and Battle Royale II: Requiem (2003). The storyline between Death Note anime and the live action movie is quite different, especially after the death of Raye Penber an FBI agent that’s responsible to investigate Light Yagami.
The sequel of the movie is expected to be released somewhere by the end of December 2006.
Experiencing Death Note
If you are given a chance to write 5 names on the Death Note, who’s going to be on the list? Is he or she the person you personally hate? Or the person should deserve to die? Anyway, this is my list:

Nobody is worthy enough to kill yet, but most likely anyone who tries to get in my way of retribution against the world. Punishing those who have done wrong in my life and who have harmed my aquaintances. Probably the first to go would be the Communistic world leaders, one by one one every year or so, but killing petty criminals in between would leave less evidence. Yeah, the Death Note has the power to change the world as well as ruin your life, so it would be pretty hard to live with one. If I was pursued I would kill myself with it and pass it down to a successor.
