MAXIS really SUCKS! They are the BIG SHARKS!
I subscribed the Maxis 1GB iPhone plan (RM100/month). Within 15 days, my phone bill charge is RM800+. I was shocked and went to check with Maxis center. First, they charged me for another RM5 again to print out my itemised bandwidth usage. Then, they showed me the terms in which they shall charge any additional bandwidth usage beyound my subscribed plan. You know what, that term is so small and I’m sure a lot of people are not aware about this. When I talked to my friends, apparently many of them are also kena cons and trapped into this. The problem is that we cannot terminate the contract and move to other ISP due to the plan.
Just recently, my iPhone has some problem. And I went to Maxis service center at KLCC to claim for the maintenance. I have been waiting for 1.5 hour to be able to talk to their customer service officer. Then, the officer said my iPhone cannot be warranty due to some reasons (he told me my phone kena air, but I’m so sure my iPhone was not). He referred my case to his supervisor. You know, I got wait for another 1.5 hour for his supervisor. I bang into his supervisor’s room and apparantely found out that he was talking with some so called “VIP” customer. Whay made me so frustrated was that, he didn’t even apologized to me and told me that Apple will never want to repair my phone. I said to him you may try to talk to Apple. After a big quarelling in front of so many customers (in fact many of the customers side on me as the reason given was so unreasonable). They then just accept my complain. But they said one thing: Maxis is just a reseller for Apple and they are not in the position to provide any value-add services for Apple. After 3 weeks waiting, they finally replaced me with a new iPhone from Apple. Can you what happenned here.
My husband has shifted from Maxis to Celcom. According to him, the bandwidth speed are quite similar. But the coverage is wider. Most importantly, when his internet bandwidth used up more than the monthly allocated bandwidth, Celcom will not charge additional fee. It will only turn the 3G becomes Edged coverage, and speed becomes slower. The usage has the option to top up if you need to. Furthermore, the Celcom’s customer service is so humble and nice. They are trying to help though in certain cases, they cannot be sure if they can help. This is the differnt.
I’m totally dissapointed with Maxis which I have been using for the past 15 years. For those who is considering iPhone and broadband, pls reconsider this important point. I cannot do anything else but have to be very careful in using my bandwidth. That really sucks!

I am using maxis wireless broadband but I can;t seem to connect to the trackers when using any bittorent client. Not sure what’s wrong with the settings. The torrent is a good torrent. But I can’t connect to the trackers on the wireless broadband while I have no problem when using cable..
Any ideas how to change the setting?

I’m using Maxis broadband and it has usage limit and after the limit iso ver the speed is like 1-4 KB/s download but before the limit is over it’s like 170 kb/s download and upload is fast. Don’t buy Maxis, it’s very slow!! I’m going to change to Streamyx broadband, I hope it is fast enough for me because I watch videos on Youtube and download files (not very big). I think Streamyx can go up to 100 KB/s download and it can buffer videos fast enough to watch without stopping, I watch videos that are around 14 minutes, can Streamyx be good for me???

Feel sorry for you guys who have experienced inconvenience in Maxis BB service..I’m using it too..The connection will only become slow when we have reached the quota and it will only be recovered after the next bill payment..I mean, when you have finished using the total amount specified for certain package, the connection will automatically become slow..I mean very slow, which is annoying sometime..But, when it has been recovered again it will return to normal, it totally depends on the package’s quota..

Currently using Maxis BB(no contract) at Bandar Puteri somewhere near Giant.. 3 Gb.. Line is stable and smooth.. At good times, I can get 2.7Mbps and bad times is around 0.6Mbps.. It’s plan is better and worthy than Celcom & Digi BB..

Hi, i’m a Maxis Broadband user and I’ve been using Maxis Broadband for 4 years and never had a problem… I live in Seremban and I can get speed up to 2 Mbps on RM98 3GB package… Watching YouTube is really smooth… Here the network is really ok, full bar… It’s really based on your location… Here in Seremban more people are using Celcom Broadband and here Celcom Broadband is the worst… Always dc and sometimes the internet is really really slow… So it’s really based on your location… If you’re in KL, Penang or Johor, don’t use Maxis Broadband… These areas are the most users using the internet…
There are tips to make sure your connection stays at HSDPA or WCDMA…
1. Firstly, plug in your USB modem.
2. After the Mobile Partner/Maxis Broadband application open, go to Tools and select Options.
3. Then go to Network, and then click on the Network Type drop down menu and select WCDMA only connection.
4. Click Apply and then click OK.
5. You’re done!
Make sure that you are using the broadband in 3G coverage only.
Any help ask me OK…

Believe me, u will be regret if u change to maxis broadband.
It is most suitable for the lifestyle before year2000.
It totally slow, wherever you are.
It totally suck, whatever plan you use.
I use for 1 year already, complain is useless.
So, why dun save the money to do something you want to do with fast speed and always on the line?
If u are live in the city, dun use it in apparent.
If u are stay in college,dun use it for study.
I was complain many time already, even they say they will upgrade the line,
But at the end, I can’t lie to myself, the speed is always below than 50 kbps.
At the same point, celcom can up to 2 to 3 mbps,
Both are same in HSDPA coverage, but different speed.
The price is sure lower than other, but
1st: limit is too limit.
2nd:u won’t get the speed u want although u already pay every month bill
3rd: customer service still not good as well
So, ask more from your friend and other ppl about maxis boardband when u want to make a choice for purchasing broadband service.
My english is not good, hope you can get my mean.
I think try to say which one is good, i just give my advice and review to the ppl who need information about this.

I m currently using d 3GB package RM68. Contract only 6 months and if wanna end it early can but must give back d modem.
I am very disappointed with it. The speed is rather slow and even 0 kbps at times. But i think it depends on the area tat u r livin/usin…
I m starting to regret using this Maxis BB. I tot of changing it to DiGi cos they say “speed is about consistency” but how true i doubt la…. can be just marketing talk cock only…
The best i will still say Streamyx if u have fixed phone line. BB in Malaysia is very bad wired is still d best at the moment. Imagine Streamyx RM66 is unlimited use whereas Maxis BB RM68 has 3GB capping. Go for wired if u can. Otherwise u’ll regret when BB speed becomes slow and disrupted a few times. Wanna check mail oso tak boleh. Even load Goggle page takes a few minutes. Very Bad!

In general, all broadband in Malaysia sucks! Streamyx is the last in the list, so I have to go with it as the best option unfortunately.

yaya Maxis have all those hidden policy one….i;ve been using the RM108 package limit is 3GB. Recently have problem like Error 619 or 628 meaning Hi speed 3G not available….damm. When call the customer is not like Digi / celcom where they have free no to call….we need to call their hotline for Broadband at and as u all know lo….waiting and waiting till my bill rose up and cant even settle my prob. All they say was need 7 working days to fix the problem…..how am i gonna chk my mail or so…..walau….such a big company still need such a long working days to fix the prob…..haiz maybe it’s time to stuck with stremyx…..stable

it’s been fun reading ths forum, i’m jst like u guys 1 of those who hv suffered a lot wth the level of service in this country. not sure y is tht… is it bcoz we r a developing country so we shld b satisfied with a developing customer service experience… tried streamyx… aftr 2 months had 2 change modem due 2 fault waited 4 2 months 4 thm 2 replace the modem, n they had the audacity 2 charge me n on top of tht the contractor was trying to lie 2 me by putting a card in my mailbox stating they came like 2 months ago but no 1 was arnd, like i nvr checked my mailbox in 2months, i know the contractor was trying not 2 look guilty by not sending it earlier whch kinda stupid… like i said these r the kinds of service level u get here in 1malaysia boleh… anyway using maxisbb now will quit after 5months n now trying to crack the firmware so i could use it wth other bb provider… heard ths guy frm the states tht manage 2 crack a motorola modem so it can be used 4 free wth any bb provider, he sells those modems but in the end he got caught… heheh… i won’t do tht… jst 4 my own purpose after all it is my modem… paid 4 it… everythng is crackable… remember y astro changed the card frm red 2 gold card… coz sum1 managed to crack the red 1 to b able 2 watch all the channel!!! how cool was tht… another thing abt astro y is there a msg showing “services currently not available” coz they r cheapskates who x 1 2 use a c-band dish… like i said evrything is crackable…

Maxis will no longer support SMTP services (port 25) from 1st March 2010 onwards. Webmail services such as Google Mail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail which are accessed through the web browser are NOT affected by this.
Hope this will improve the connection, but still there is no promises made on the Speed Cap only on Best Effort Basis, for those looking for Peer to Peer torrent download please don’t use wireless broadband, as the one who spoil the connection is yourselves.
For me recently get a free modem promotion is a not bad deal, usb modem with micro sd inside, but also did not expect too high on the speed thou. Only hope is Telco Minister can open up competition and let the gold digger dies off, our speed is too far way behind other country feel like not moving for centuries just like our country economics, its a shame.

Based on my own experience. It depends on the location. When i was stayed in Shah Alam, the connection can go up to 200kbps during midnight and on working hours. Anyway, the line is not constant. I’m using the power plan.
Planning to change to streamyx as I’m paying rm138 for slow speed. Now I’m staying in Kajang and the speed slower. Just another 2 months and I’ll terminate my line. I think all provider should improve…

i am not sure what happened to my maxis broadband. I thk when i first used for past 1-2 mths, the speed looks acceptable but it might not upto 7.2mps. Recently really too slow, is there anyone can advice what should which isp should i use now. I have tried streamyx, celcom and now maxis, all also end up with connection problem. My location is in seremban (near to chung hua primary school).

Wireless service is very depends on areas. My connectivity with Maxis Broadband is quite stable and faster than Streamyx in Seremban.
1.If the communication tower is near your area, it should be fast and stable at all the time.
2.Because wireless service is fair usage, so if there are many people in an area using the same broadband at the same time, than the connectivity is sure slow and maybe will disconnect.
3.Should you excess the limit of data usage every month, than any broadband company will have the right to slow down or disconnect your connection not only Maxis because you already broken the agreement you had agreed before register. In Maxis Broadband, if you excess the data usage, you can purchase additional data usage.
Bear in mind that all the ISP companies are always trying to upgrade their service to delight all customers. It only the problem with timing.

Maxis broadband service is highly unstable. When it gets fast dl speed can reach 300kb/s+ but when its slow it’ll go to 10kb/s+..
I’d rather use streamyx thou it will only reach 100kb/s+ dl. at least the dl speed will not go down so much..
Using it as a backup when suckish streamyx internet is down is fine cuz if u use mxs broadbnd u’ll only be able to use it when its not peak hours..like early in the mornin or late at nite..

when u download using maxis wireless u need to use utorrent and limit the upload speed to 22, i did this now i download at 400mb/s its not bad to get a 700mb film in 25 minutes..try it lah

Have been using Maxis for about 7 months already in the Ampang area. Regret getting it. very, very slow. Happen very often since signing up – cannot connect and very slow connection. Getting fed-up and tired of calling their service.
Do not be fooled by the sales brochure and claims on the website.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MAXIS BROADBAND.
** Be Warned **
1) Very slow connection
2) Download limit of 3 GB per month only for the RM98 package.
3) If you want to terminate the MAXIS broadband within the first year, you have to pay RM200.
4) Do not be taken in by the 1 week trial. During the trial, sure no problem. After the trial and a few months later, you will regret it.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MAXIS BROADBAND.

i just subcribe Maxis Broadband although knowing people mocking about it lol cause in my place there is too many people using Celcom broadband, only use it for one day though.. still inspecting though.. speed right now? i got 1mbps at first time installing and 2 mbps and even 10 mbps in speedtest.net although i really doubt it but recieve a very downtime when i am trying to download a movie file approx 170 mb with 7 chunks using Internet Download Manager…… Still not achieve 3 gb right now only aprrox 1.11 gb lol quite confuse with the data usage figure, if in my Maxis software i already use 1.11 gb but if i check online in Maxis portal; it shows only 200 mb hmm maybe they update it late………..
but then again i will still inspecting it…. anything can happen

i use maxis broadband at pj area, very fast, i like it i always get hsdpa…but lately i downloads lot of movie for my parent… after 2 weeks it getting slow connection, downloads n browser… because i almost use all the 3gb limit downloads(about 2.5gb)… if download slow i can accept it but even online slow i hate it…(even slow it still hsdpa… should i happy for this? -.-;)
very good for online (for good/fast area)but not if u want downloads lot of thing especially big file like video file.

Don’t bother. I subscribed to the 1mb package and my connection is anywhere between 5kbps to 25 kbps (if i’m lucky). The damn chunky modem disconnects every 2 hours and sometimes I can’t even connect to the damn thing. Their customer service is just as bad as their service…Don’t waste your money and time!

I have subscribed the maxis bb since last week the speed is totally unstable in Penang. Called up maxis a few times but they said reset location….and I do not know what the fxxx is resetting the location? Is it to reset your connection or how? Customer service also told me once you used up to 3GB you can ask for reset data usage..may I know did anyone of you did this before??? I think all is full of crap.

I testing Maxis Wireless for a week -Power Package-
For the first it was great yeah. But after the second day, I got -disconnected- -red signal- -below HSDPA connection-. I live at Klang, 15th floor condo.
The salesperson said I’ll get peak speed at 3.6Mbps and minimum speed is half. So I tested at SpeedTest.net. Tested about 5 times. Got 2.1Mpbs, and sometime 2.4Mpbs, 1.5Mpbs and 3.0Mpbs + Disconnects = Unstable Connection.
Play DotA,CS,WoW, 30 seconds disconnected. Surf Internet, open firefox, typed Google.com .. boom disconnected.
I’m not sure if Maxis Wireless isn’t for online gaming but I’ma going to give the modem and get back my RM100.

THE WORST broadband in Bandar Utama P.J. is Maxis Broadband! I subscribe for the advanced package at 640kbps as advised by their outlet. I’m lucky to get 50kbps anytime I log on! The only consistent thing about Maxis Broadband is their billing and disconnection! I’m one of the ‘lucky’ few who have NO CHOICE but to subscribe to Maxis because they have a monopoly in the area. No Telekom.. Only Maxis. The pathetic reasoning for their pathetic service is “too many users”, yet they are aggressively promoting and subscribing new users.

Dont change to Maxis if not you will feeling that you are stupit and cheat by Maxis as me. Only will give you fast speed when triel after my Pc reciver only will between 6-15k . sometime whole day will only in 1k- 3k.
I hope that if this complaint can be show to their company there will do something , but i dont think so.
As my friend tell me, The customer service only will tell you if you dont want to use it just pay the rm200 and Disconnect it.

You will regret if u change to Maxis broadband.
The broadband service is very bad. Sometimes it is HSDPA but sometimes it goes to UTMS or EDGE and then disconnected. It happened few times in an hour. This is not my first time experience. I’ve called your customer service this morning telling the bad problem but she hang-up the call. It is a very bad image to Maxis.
I think Maxis will loose their customers who’s pissed off with their Broadband Service.

Think twice when using Wireless Broadband with Fair Usage.
Let say Maxis – 3G / 5G then
128 kbps : 12 days (8 Hours per-day) = 5.273GB
After that you will become turtle speed even < 33.6 kbps !
If you surf slow then OK
64 kbps : 23 days (8 Hours per-day) = 5.05 GB
Do you think we shell go for 64 kbps with maxis broadband ??
Ha! if you surf 12 Hours — congratulation ! You are in HSDPA mode but Turtle Speed (<40kbps) after 5G !!!!!!

huhu aku guna maxis pun ok je, dulu guna celcom, cam sial, byk benda dia block, rapidshare pun susah. skrg guna maxis, pakai torent, download sampai 280kbyte/s kat semambu kuantan.
kat tempat lain2 pun ok je, makin lama aku tgk, makin bagus. dia org sentiasa update system dia org, good!

u baru lagi ke guna maxis.. i sudah setahun lebih guna maxis.. so far everything ok.. until this month.. the connection not stable.. download kat rapidshare file baru 2Mb je.. tapi kena try bnyak kali.. asyik2 server disconnect.. so i dah bosan guna maxis.. i still report gak.. bagi diaorang solve dulu problem.. tapi kalau dh sebulan lebih macam tu gak.. sorry la maxis.. bye bye la jawab nya..

40GB wakakakaka, guna ZTE modem duh lembab cam siput la,
Ok la badut sarkis, jom compare! guna streamyx, aku buleh donwload hampir 500GB for 1 month, average download rate almost 200Kbps. Streamyx bayaran bulanan jauh lebih murah dari maxis bloodyband tu.
Lain kali kalu nak buat comparison berkenaan maxis bloodyband nih tak payah la, buat malu je.
kira badut sarkis dapat 40GB tu dah kira okey la, sebab ramai dah org buat pembatalan pengunaan line maxis bloodyband nie.
Hahaha 40GB hahahaha hahhaha hahahahaaaa duh sakit perut aku gelak.

well just got myself a maxis broadband usb modem sign up at one utama. still in 7 DAYS TRIAL…
dekat area bukit beruntung rawang ni dapat pulak HSDPA connection but then i tried to change the connection to GPRS only since im gonna move away to UITM Segamat this month end. the GPRS connection cannot get me connected with myspace or even facebook… i guess living in segamat will be like hell if im still continue using this maxis broadband modem with gprs.
my major concern is:
Q1: do maxis serve a good connection up to date and improving?
Q2: should i be using maxis usb broadband in segamat area or melaka town area?
Q3: like curious main question, which are the best among all the ISP?

Hey guys, i thought you wanna hear this.
Last month, i just download almost 40 GB including movie, music,software,and games using Maxis Broadband!! Yeah, if you using small modem (RM 138), then it’s not working very well to download because it function to surf web, not downloading.
But if you guys use big modem (ZTE, RM 98,)it can be use to download all great stuff by no limitation. Maxis just say 3 GB per month but i don’t think they doing their job to check how much user download per month.

For those brothers and sisters suffered Maxis lousy broadband services, i suggest call up the Customer Service no 0, report your frustration speed, but normally they asked all the stupid trouble shooting questions set your 192.168.0.1 homepage and do this do that reset modem, then they try to reset location, i don’t know what they mean reset location, when done, also nothing improve, what i try to say here we are the subcribers we got to right ask for rebate if their service not on par, simply force them by anyhow open up a case report number for you, wait for someone call you then only you nego how much your entitlement would be from the day reported, mine i have rebated more than 10 times, sometime can get half month off rebate, the longer time and number of days they return your call is better, so act fast call up the customer service and get your $$$$$$, cheers

Plz Guyz stay away from Maxis Broadband.It is very Slow and it sucks.I m tired of this stupid service they provide.It’s like cheating their customers and if u want to stop the service you again have to pay them 200RM for service disconnection.Its actually a stupid way of marketing just to earn money.
Use some other services, but not Maxis u will regret….

im staying at sek 7 shah alam. i experience the modem always lost connection and needs redial. sometimes difficult to redial and have to disconnect the hardware.
Any one of you have same experience and advice me ccordingly. tq.

Yes, definitely as a wifi service provider, Maxis yet consider very ‘weak’ and unstable partner in most of land, even in KL, kepong, which highlited 3G area. I tested my self.
If you insist to use Maxis, don’t go too far and you should sit ‘properly’ just under their umbrella, dont go downstair, their service is only good from ground floor.
Don’t use Maxis Broadband, unless you want to contribute your money to them, eventhough you do not have a choice. Maxis only behave like big master in this area, but they are not, in fact.
Choose wired, even streamyx is better (pls select higher RM77/88/99 pack) you will living longer and happier.
This is my experience so far.

Well….i’ve been using DIGI EDGE for 8 mths now becoz at that time i can’t afford to buy CELCOM modem. Guess what?? The service so far so good for normal browsing but of course not for youtubing… I can still get connected eventough im at remote area..no matter when it rains or shine.. :D

I was using before, and i never get connected to the internet. The promoter told me that my area have good coverage, and i waiting for whole week and keep ask the guy. After two week I found that my place have no 3G coverage for maxis, so i want to return and the guy tell me only 1week for trail, Im using about 2 week so i cant return, or i get penalty. Its fine, i go complain about but no one listen to me. Maxis Broadband is rubbish.

My place don’t have TM Streamyx nor celcom, coz they(TM) claimed that the place is Digi territory. I am planning to subscribe Digi Edge, but I am quite a heavy user. I always use to download or playing online games. Could anyone please advice?

I hate maxis… i took the 1mbps package for rm88 a month minus the telephone rental(im not using wireless)..but the problem is the speed drops vastly within 3 months.. until now.. I ended up
accepting a low F*cking speed of 2kbps for downloading a 2-5 mb file… (tried on different websites with same file sizes)..
I dun know wat happened to Maxis.. Are they playing some kind of trick on me?? well if can i want to teach those Corrupt Bastards a lesson…

im using celcom data services since 3 years ago.. at that time, 3g just been launched by celcom (celcom is the first operator to launches 3g in malaysia)..
but sadly, i dont have much money to buy 3G devices.. so i just stick with my gprs devices.. i use my hp as a modem, connected to PC/laptop. at that time, new celcom broadband plan not launched yet.. im using unlimited data plan, together with my celcom postpaid line.
what can i say is, celcom gprs connection is stable.. even it slow (of course, it gprs), but have no problem to surf internet..
nowadays, celcom still better than maxis in many factors.. first, of course the coverages.. celcom 3g coverages now is about 60%, while maxis is about 40% (according to MCMC).
in term of service quality, celcom still better (even not 100% ok, but much more better than maxis).. the average download speed is around 40KB/s (~320kbps) which is about 80% of full 3g speed depends on the server location.. for HSDPA, im not sure since im not testing it yet (although my devices support HSDPA)..
maybe we need some experts or any 3rd parties to do the test, since they know more about it rather than me. for example, let see a comparison test result made by 3rd parties for both maxis and celcom..

To date (2nd quarter 2008) Celcom is the largest mobile broadband provider with largest number of subsribers in Malaysia. All this awards, test, and statistic shown us that Celcom broadband is better than Maxis broadband..
of course.. there is still lot of improvement to be done for both maxis and celcom.. but our question here is which one is better. that’s all..

Has anyone experience extreme decline in speed during 5pm-midnight?…the indicator in my wireless modem e220 change from SKY BLUE to Dim blue….cant even login msn or surf net…even the dl speed vary from 0kbps to 10kbps compared to 100kbps during the day….living in petaling jaya area…zzzz

Meaning to say as “Pengguna Bijak” (Unlike Pengguna Bijak as defined by GetALife) we can report if let say celcom/maxis didn’t provide 70% of 3.6mbps as promoted..
Telcos fined RM50mil for short-changing consumers
KUALA LUMPUR: Telcos were fined a total of RM50mil last year for short-changing consumers and the Government will withdraw their licences if they fail to deliver services as promised.
Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the licensees were fined for, among others, not providing even 50% of the reception or speed as promised to the consumer, failing to adhere to the business plan promised to the Government, quality of service that was below the set standards, breaching contracts, and not having adequate base stations and towers to fulfil service requirements.
“If they have promised in their business plan to provide a speed of 1Mbps, they should at least provide 70% (700Kbps), 90% of the time.
“I am waiting to take back the licences and give them to other companies that are serious about serving consumers, if telcos and digital service providers fail to perform as agreed in the terms of the conditions with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM),” Shaziman said after launching Packet 1 (PI) WiMAX services Tuesday.
He added that the “best efforts as currently adopted by broadband players now are unacceptable.”
Rolling out, he said, was more than just building a tower, launching new services or setting up WiFi spots.
“The Government is serious in ensuring that broadband Internet access will benefit the rakyat, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.”
Shaziman reiterated that failure to comply would be subjected to penalty, possibly in the form of withdrawal of the respective performance guarantee bonds of up to RM7.7mil pledged with SKMM.
“Since WiMAX is a new technology which requires quite a substantial investment, it would be prudent for industry players to share infrastructure to minimise financial burdens and wastage in duplication of investments.”

i’ve been reading all the previous comments..
it seems that i shudnt expect much from 3G wireless connections esp in M’sia..its far from excellent but still i think its a good start to get evryone on9, right now im using 2 separate accounts- 20Mbps and 2Mbps,one for dloading/gaming and another for web browsing,served me very well and takes sometime to find a decent router to keep up with the speeds ;)
just wondering how will i cope with cuz i’l be going home next yr..

Kalau tinggal area ramai orang pakai memang la slow … yang pasal blh dload malam malam tuh je .. utk kebaikan sume org jugak .. kalau bagi org dload siang2.. kesianla org lain yg pakai broadband utk surfing je .. gerenti slow sbb org yg dload akan ambil bandwidth yang banyak ..

i have been using celcom broadband almost 8mths. d service still comparable wit maxis. worst when raining and nite time. some time ok , so time worst. its advance plan(3.6) can go max @ 1.8~2.5Mbps(skudai area) at day time if lucky.cust svc alsp bad la.

i live in taman melawati and im using maxis broadband 512kbps..the speed is okeyla..for browsing is good…but the download speed is killing me…its sooooooooooo slow…then i’ve download this software and they accelerate the download speed from 25kbps to 100kbps…then i do some hacking thing and i’ve change the IP address and force the provider to give the speed that i deserve..and it works…thanks to youtube..they had helped me a lot..

1…not enought few minutes , HSDPA change to UMTS again , enought to make u disconnect , cause everytimes it changed , need some times to connect up again .
2…sure all maxis user have a same feel here … open broswer load a web-page also is a problem , load 10times+++ (stop , refresh ) also cant load up .
3…i dont understand , maxis said block up all torrent , so tat user can get faster speed , okay , it already blocked , suppose more fast , rite ? hwo come more slow now ?

For what i know is that, maxisBB have limits on their data usage,depending on the plan you choose. Exceeding that limit they will charge you. But celcom gives unlimited monthly usage at a fixed fees. Plus, although you need to buy a modem from celcom, but the modem is yours. Maxis gives you the modem, but which you will need to return it when discontinue the contract.
Not sure about coverage and other high tech staves, i am living in setapak, KL,using maxis broadband at 10th floor and the speed is really slow and frequent disconnection. Was thinking should i change to celcomBB.

i have 18 months contract.. but now they have change their policy.. there are no contract limited use..

Ladies n Gmen. The actual story about Msian WlessBB is difficult to understand. I’ve been using both Celcom n Maxis. Been using Maxis for more than a year. Celcom just 1 week. FYI, I’m in Kangar, Perlis. My experience is: Celcom is no good for free DL of Rapidshare, megaupload etc coz everyone is sharing one IP. Maxis is good for free downloading rapidshare after u reconnect ur modem. My Celcom rate at 1.5 – 2.1 mbps during daytime. Maxis 300 – 400 kbps everytime. I have Rapidshare premium account. I’ve downloading more than 1 terabyte of data using maxis but never torrenting. I also use Hoo Net Meter to monitor my speed. No software fiddling or what so ever. The morale of this story is, I could consider myself lucky maybe because of my location. I’ve never complaint a bit to Maxis. Hopefully our Msian ISP will boost their speed n service in the coming future. Thanks

Then right-click on any one of the settings and click New > Integer and type in nglayout.initialpaint.delay as the name and set the value to 0.

Restart Firefox and see it fly.

can Maxis User tell me where u live? because i wanna know.. and u must know that in your area must be full coverage of 3G before use Maxis BB.. for me.. surfing not a problem at all.. for a wireless broadband.. but downloading is much slower right now..

Kalau dah ada.. sebelum nak connect.. open http://192.168.0.1 , cari network select.. pilih ONLY WCDMA.. tekan submit.. Sebab apa kita pilih.. sbab kite akan paksa MAXIS BB untuk cari line 3G first and only.. klau kita pilih WCDMA preferred.. MAXIS BB akan cenderung untuk cari line GPRS and EDGE sbab line tu paling banyak dan kuat sekali…
After that pergi network select.. tekan auto connecting.. and click submit.. tunggu 2 minit.. kalau muncul PPP connecting.. makna kata anda berjaya..
kat homepage mesti tunjuk UMTS and HSPDA dkat network type..

I just subscribed to Maxis mobile broadband using the Huawei USB modem. The charges are RM118 for the 3.6Mbps unlimited package after a RM20 discount with their bolt-on promotion if you are an existing subscriber to their mobile phone services.
After almost a week, I decided to try Celcom’s mobile broadband as well. This is due to the experiences of constant disconnections, hunting for networks, extremely slow speeds (never above 400kbps download and 100kbps upload if I am lucky).
With the Celcom, I plugged in and almost in an instant, connection was made and it has been very reliable and for the first time, I am actually achieving 1Mbps download with just over 100kbps upload).
While this is still not satisfactory, Celcom has been inherently the far better of the two wireless services.
What I have gathered is that Maxis basically have better customer services but Celcom has better product quality. Incidentally, I was told that the current crop of Huawei devices are far inferior to the initial product. So for those who have the first batches of Huawei USB modems, hang on to it!
I have since returned and cancelled my Maxis mobile broadband.
Services are so slow here when compared to the global market as 7.2Mbps is being offered now for mobile broadband.

I am not a hi tech person but definetly a customer that wants to get the value of buying a product or service. I purchased the Celcom 3g service. Spent a four figure price for especially being mobile to use the internet.
I tell you if I could vulgar words to scold the entire Celcom org I would.
The speed is so so so slow man… and I am in Ampang, Klang Valley. Streamyx is so much more better. My laptop detected a wireless network(probably streamyx) and I believe it is my neighbour’s. Oh my GOD so laju man!
CELCOM’s customer service…no customer care they call it? Those people are not in this world at all. I wonder why they bother recording the calls (for training purposes it seems) when nobody bothers to follow up on your enquiries. CUSTOMERs enquiries
Can you imagine…CELCOM is ripping off people with this internet service. I think the CEO and his team knows about these problems…but what the heck? Money coming in and Malaysian consumers not strong so who cares about customer service?
I just went and disconnected the CELCOM serivce. however I am now stuck with this modem…..
Just terrible. I strongly urge everyone to CONDEMN Celcom’s internet product and make them wake up to improve customer satisfaction.

Hi there, I’m staying in Tmn Melur Ampang and believe it or not, I’ve been using Maxisbb Power for the past two months. The enjoyment and fun was only for two weeks and now things goes the opposite. During the two weeks tenure, downloading was superb and experincing more than 200 kbps was something I’m proud.
Things changed and today I’m having < 20 kbps download speed – OMG. wow a 3.6 Mbps with a download speed of 20kbps. I’m a premium user for rapidshare.com and using IDM as the download manager. In my office with a 2Mbps connection sharing with more than 40 terminals still could have IDM download speed of more 150kbps at any time from rapidshare. And as premium user this is really a nightmare. Download from 7 sites simultaneously at <20kbps. WTF!
What have I done wrong? Even today at 7.30 pm (shouldn’t be too buzy eh!?) I could not go in and test my bandwidth speed even from maxis website. Ashamed. … I’ve called their so-called- to be ‘experts’ for the 10th time this month and even said to me , ” what are you downloading”, I replied back, “hey, If any of your customers had this power 3.6 Mbps you don’t expect them just to read emails or ym’s, where is my speed to download when I need it?”, later I told him that I’m going to terminate the maxshitbb services. he replied, that I should pay the penalty for termination. Then I told him that I’m bringing this matter to Tribunal Pengguna on how lousy is your services and there are two reports concerning no signal coverage in my area and I’ve been given a case already. (starts with C and numbers) Seem he’s not aware and behaves like a parakeet (parrot) and not reading previously lodged reports. then this weird female advert played. HOW RUDE! didn’t even answer or even have the courtesy to answer my reply.
Okay, I’ve made a point, there’s no use arguing with this maxshitbb peers. Today is the last week b4 the end of the month and I’m pissed off with their services. I’m sure to terminate their services and had few things in mind. I pity a lot of people including myself whom fell into their dirty tricks and tactics selling useless broadband services. As a word of advice – DON’T USE MAXIS BROADBAND. It’s a regret for your lifetime and full of shit. It’s for kiddies as seen in the advertisment.

I stay in Taman Tasik Semenyih, Semenyih. My taman is unfornately serviced by Maxis only and We were offered the the basic package at RM68.00 with a contract period of 18 months. Lately I am unable to browse a webpage and sometimes the upload speed is 50kbps and download speed of 40kbps. I have complained many times and the problem is not solved. What is the Multimedia commission doing. We dont have any consumer rights in this country.

f*ck maxis. biggest lier ever. Here’s why we should never use their broadband:
1. hidden charges incleded in your bills. — tat’s just not the right attitude to do business.
2. world’s slowest broadband. downloading a 4 Mb song takes half and hour, and a movie of 400 Mb using world’s fastest torrent machine – Xunlei, excellent seed …took me HALF A MONTH. 56k dial up performs much better than this.
3. unstable connection. It’s normal to get connection for 3 hours, then stop for another 6.
4. Extremely slow connection. Takes up to 20 minutes to be connected to the internet all the time each time you start your PC/ laptop.
5. Ah long service/ attitude + HORRIBLE after sales service. They also claim to return you your money if you return the modem within the trial period..and what happened to my friends (3 of them, im not included as im stil using it– got a bit too late to return the crap within the period..) is that.. they’re still waiting for their money after 3 LONG months since they returned the crap.
6. Extremely slow at areas that are supposed to be fast. I stay at Mon’t Kiara – jalan Kiara 5–which they claimed to be one of the few areas tat receive the best connection..and yet it’s still so shitty.
7. horible connection to msn. i’ll never be connected to ur msn until a few “troubleshooting” is done each time you try to log in. and once u’re in u’ll keep being disconected at each 5 minutes. sometimes 3.
*** so..in a scale of 1-10, i’d give 4.5 to streamyx, and 1 for maxis. serious.

From my experience… If we register for Maxis Broandband, they will give us 1 month tried period. That time, the connection speed very fast. But after 3-4 months, I dont know why the speed become very slow. Sometimes… for download a 3MB file, takes more than 30 minutes. Business strategy???! No turning back, contract for 1 and half years! :-|

you will cover back the fees within the contract period, example: RM 68 for 24 months contract, you terminate at 6th month, you will bear the following 18th month money(RM 68 x 18) at once!!! No one will not follow the term and condition, espeacially the telecommunication giant!
Go back and study before bla bla bla here and there without understanding the all rule. And “U” what for u keep the expensive modem when not subscribing them.. is that sound weird?

i just try use the new broadband subcriper called SURT WITH U (from U Mobile)my dl speed can up to 100kb/s and my housing area is located at gombak..the monthly fee is only rm78 per month and the ativation fee is only rm50 (8-Days Money Back Guarantee) not like the MAXIS BB is not refundable…there say even the contract for ‘U’ is 24 months but u still can terminate within the contract period and the charges is need to pay the rm799 for the USB modem and the rm78 for the current month’s fees

TERMINATE IN BETWEEN 7 DAYS YOU SIGN UP.
We MAXIS SERVICE CENTER with your modem. After checking, they said our side is dont have broadband coverage, so we can’t enjoy the speed that our package offer. Because we report it in between 7 days, so we get no penalty for our 18 months contract but there is no refund for our RM100 registation fees.
The lady said that is our fault because we didnt check whether our area is have the broadband coverage or not. Come on!!!. There is no PC for us to check the converage during PC fair. Somemore, we need a broadband access so we sign up for the package.
We pay for the RM100 registation fees and register under our home address. How come they dont have any checking for us? The promoter only wanna to get their commision. No one will do this suck checking for you.
I wonder where can we make complains. Very angry that this type of big company using this lausy method to cheat people $$$$

Antara software yg boleh tolong masalah korang semua nie..:
Download TweakMaster.. software ni boleh bagi lajukan surfing dan downloading korang… and satu lagi.. yg bestnye… die akan paksa ISP such as Maxis and TMnet supaya jgn disconnect user tanpa sebab.. so masalah disconnection x akan berulang dgan kerap… dan buat pengetahuan semua.. saya pernah online hampir 24 jam tanpa disconnection problem…
Bagi heavy download user… pilihan terbaik adalah stay ngan TmNet.. Kecuali anda berada di sekitar K.Lumpur.. anda masih boleh download menggunakan maxis bb.. tetapi lembab sedikit..
Maxis broadband hanya banned beberapa P2P sahaja yg boleh effect network such as Ares P2P.. and many more… Dont worry .. LimeWire still can use..
Dan akhir sekali kita patut bersyukur atau bernasib baik sbab IP kita semua adalah jenis dynamic IP address.. tidak seperti negara China atau US.Amerika… ISP diorang boleh detect sapa user yg download illegal song and movie in 1-3 hours… kita rakyat malaysia pun byk yg download illegal song and movie termasuklah saya sendiri sbgai heavy downloader user..

Rata2 saya dapati banyak ppl comment dkat sini semuanya heavy downloader user termasuklah saya sendiri… namun apa saya dapati maxis broadband banyak bergantung kepada location atau tempat itu sendiri… kerana itulah yg akan decide kelajuan broadband itu sendiri… yg kedua.. kelajuan broadband bergantung kepada berapa byk user yg sedang menggunakan maxis broadband atau server maxis pada satu2 masa… selalunya masa paling byk org gune.. pkul 8.00 am until 5.00 p.m.. yg ketiga jika internet atau download lembab.. itu bermakna ada user dikalangan kita sedang membolot bandwidth yg sedia ada… dlm erti kata lain… user tu tgh download anything dgn laju..
Jika 1 daripada 10 user tgh download anything so fast.. ia akan memberi effect yg besar kepada user lain… sbab kita semua berkongsi bandwidth pada satu2 masa..
Bagi user2 yg berada di luar Klang Valley.. berkemungkinan 60% anda akan ada masalah speed surfing and download..
Selain itu.. Masalah maxis sekarang ialah maxis server hanya menyediakan bandwidth yg sedikit untuk kita semua…. dlm erti lain.. depa duk control internet kita…cuba bayangkan 1000 org pengguna baru setiap 2 minggu… terpaksalah kita share bandwidth kita dgn org lain.. x ke bangang maxis nie.. Yg kedua… Maxis nie 3G line dkat Malaysia amatlah sedikit.. apatah lagi ngan 3.5G (HSPDA).. Sepatutnya depa buatlah coverage 3G satu Malaysia dulu.. baru lancarkan Maxis Broadband.. ni belum habis nk buat coverage satu malaysia 3G.. dah lancarkan Maxis Broadband… Semua org kene ingat.. hanya 6% tempat di Malaysia yg ada coverage 3.5G.. dlm erti kata lain… hanya di tempat sini sahaja… user boleh surfing dgan berkelajuan sehingga 3.6 Mbps.. tmpat lain.. jgn harap larr… bagi saya 3G belum tentu surfing laju…
Antara kekurangan maxis broadband nie:
a)Internet kita depa(maxis) yg control..
b)Depa boleh sesuka hati disconnect kite punye internet..
c)Download tidak laju sepanjang masa.. kecuali pada waktu malam.. internet sgt laju serta download sbab maxis x control peer to peer traffic masa waktu awal pagi [1.00 am-5.45 a.m]
d)Depa buat kontrak ngan kita.. kena tunggu 18 bulan.. baru boleh terminate.. sama mcam astro… ni keje ananda krishnan nie.. pemilik astro ngan maxis.. dan mcam2 lagi….
e)Coverage berkelajuan tinggi meliputi hanyalah 6% tempat di Malaysia..
f)Upgrade system network nationwide amat kerap..

Okey.. berbalik kepada tajuk utama… tetapi sebelum tu saya akan britau beberapa pengalaman saya semasa saya menggunakan maxis broadband nie.. Antaranya:
a)Download software[saiz 800 MB]paling laju iaitu 300 kb/s menggunakan satu software yg saya x akan tulis di sini.. pada watu siang.. bulan pertama maxis..
b)Discconnection jarang2 berlaku… almost twice a week… selepas 5 bulan penggunaan..
c)Program Ares P2P hanya boleh online pada pkul 1.00 am – 5.45 am.. pada waktu lain.. langsung x leh guna..
d)Window Live Messenger ataupun dahulunya dikenali sbgai MSN x boleh sign in.. lpas sign in.. always sign out about 5 times.. itupun selepas 5 bulan penggunaan..
e)Pernah download movie paling laju iaitu 160 kb/s pada waktu siang dan 320 kb/s pada waktu malam…
f)Download lagu paling laju iaitu 80 kb/s…
g)Masalah disconnettion always berlaku pada Windows Vista but no problem with Windows XP…

Saya rasa amat bertuah sbab akhirnya dpt cari gak forum tentang maxis broadband.. anyway.. rata2 saya dapati ramai pengguna duk complain ttg maxis broadband nie… namun sekadar complain dkat forum jew.. ape yg kita dapat.. seharusnya kita hantar memorandum atau petisyen dkat maxis.. suruh depa(maxis) kaji balik policy depa… saya dah baca and saya dapati mmg policy tu almost 80% berat sebelah kepada maxis.. kita yg bayar.. depa yg untung… so please anyone buat satu memorandum or petisyen supaya kita semua britau masalah kita dkat maxis!!!

I totally agree with some of the upstair which say, if you everchange from your streamyx and use maxis bb before, you will totally love back the streamyx.
1) the maxis bb connection is soso only. not really as they say in “high speed”
2) if your job based to VPN service like remote desktop, then it really really F suck.
3) MSN always cannot login.

glad I found this site, I was thinking of switching from streamyx 512 to maxis BB, due to streamyx cable got stolen 2X in my taman, connection down for 2 weeks, each time. Cannot work from home, had to stay back in office. Streamyx also have have intermittent connection sometimes, but mostly around 400kbps
I’m a heavy user, need to connect daily back to my company network and download data, change config, upload data, ..etc. I would think, now after reading all this, I might have problems if I’m using wireless BB.
I think I better stay with streamyx. ..

Please potential new customer dont ever think about maxisBB.They only want to make money.I am frustrated user after upgraded to Power plan but still slow like Basic Plan.Maybe you heard people say streamyx is sucks but trust me MaxisBB is much2 more sucks!!!Customer service hot line is NOT free toll and also the agents is less knowledgeable than us.And they dared saying the problem will be fixed in 7 days!!!!and NO rebate!!!!b*bi ananda krishnan pukima*.Suck our money for stupid astro service and now MaxisBB i have to wait till the contract finish in 18 Months then only terminate.Sial sampai bila2 aku ban maxis.

DON’T USE MAXIS BROADBAND SERVICE.
I am stay in Subang Jaya and using the f* Maxis broadband for more the 1 year but i never have the maximum speed that i paid. Even I tested using Maxis broadband speed test tools. And every time I start to use the modem I minimum need to reset the modem 3 time and wait for 30 min to get to connect to the net.
I had make complaint more the 100 time since i start using it but i never get the problem solve.
Queman is right, let go to Maxis to get back our comsumer right and we all terminate the service at the same time.

I wish I found this post earlier. I would have saved some of you a lot of headaches. I was very disappointed with my entire experience from beginning to end. And even after it ended they managed to piss me off.
I subscribed to Maxis Wireless Broadband because I was just so irritated with my Streamyx. I was told by a Maxis agent that Ampang had coverage (which it did). But it was so slow that a dial up would have been faster. So I thought I would try it somewhere else just to compare speeds. I tried at KLCC, Pavillion, and KL Plaza (FYI this was sometime late ’07).
The speeds were definitely not the 3G speeds that were so heavily advertised. I even did troubleshooting with the customer service people, who by the way couldn’t help most of the time and had to refer me to a “technical” person.
I finally decided to terminate. I was still eligible for the free trial so I was happy enough. I returned my modem unit to the KLCC center. You would think that this was the end. But NOOO!!!.
It was the begginning of another headache! After termination I still received bills from Maxis. Which I spoke with the customer service people about and who responded saying this will be sorted out.
Then the legal letters from their recovery lawyers started to come. Which pissed me off to no end. I went to the KLCC center again to sort this out; only to discover they had no record of me returning my modem. Therefore, I still owed them money!! And without me producing the modem they couldn’t do anything. I was fuming. I had already returned the modem and they expected me to magically produce another one!
Long story short. I sorted this out by talking to the supervisor on duty, who eventually saw my logic. Legal action was stopped.
This is just my experience. If you had a better experience with Maxis Broadband, then you are luckier than me.

Called their operator told me MAXIS is ONLY for BROWSING & SURFING NET as in Surfing the website. Their service doesn’t include playing online game nor downloading any files. I regret paying for their Broadband due to the contract. If anyone found any lawyer willing to take up case to Sue Maxis for their service for a low fee please contact me. They are against what they advertise. Total Scam. Do Not Get Maxis. This is even worst than our already slow streamyx. And Fu*K I still got about 1 year on this ridiculous service.

MAXIS is screwing around with the consumer…. lets organise a walk in to maxis HQ centre in KLCC and ask for service cancellation. I have been using this stupid service since june 2007 and till now, i have called maxis 10 times…. they have come and change my modem 3 times… and i have even challeged them to come to my office to prove that their 3G is working… but till now…no one with B#LLs came..
they keep sending in their 3rd party installers to rectify the problem which cannot be rectified… because… its not a PROBLEM… its their stupid service level… thats all they have…
if people can make a change on who runs the country… i think we can change how MAXIS treats its customers and tell everyone how the are cheating the public.
all their stupid advertisements are showing kbps, which equals to KILO-BITS-PER-SECOND…. that means what ever you getting you divide by 8, then you will get the actual THROUGHPUT speed which comes to about 30 to 40 kilo BYTES per second.
8 kilo BITS = 1 kilo BYTE
1000 kilo BYTE = 1 MEGA BYTE
so we are actually get crawling speed from these MAXIS and STREAMYX….. might as well just get dial up … which comes up to the same speed….

well for lost / missing / kena rob while sipping a cup of tea at mamak shop USB modem you need to pay RM 800 for replacement …even if you have a police report too …. you still need to pay ..what the fark …..
and worse still is that there are no i mean NO installment plan case you wish to get a replacement — want a replacement — pls pay RM 800 and then we replace it for you with a smile … OR else you can wait for our legal action … that is what they say in MAXIS ….
therefore one word of caution ..pls treat you USB modem like you handphone ..cuz the value is infact more than a handphone…

Read the T&C carefully. Just ridiculous. They can do what ever they want to your line. You will have to shut the F%^& up and accept it.
I have 3 more months to go with this contract thingy. Can’t wait to terminate the line.

had my BB went into the hands of some hardcore thieves that broke into my home a few weeks ago…
so were told by CS to go to the nearest maxis centre for replacement ..but must pay rm800 for this matter ….
so went to the nearest maxis center and was then again told to go to HQ ..menara KLCC 10th floor …
so went to Manara KLCC and was directed to go to the 10th floor … then scolded me that why am here at the 10th floor instead of below …duhhhh one say 10th floor and one say downstairs …..
so while standing at the 10th floor some of the staff there voicing out stay away as there are several things go missing there when ppl visit them …

I guess there only 2 choice… Celcom or Streamyx only. Maxis? You better not to take it… so many people regret about they services. You call them (Maxis) today they probably solve your problem for 2 or 3 hour… later the problem is return again.. what should i call Turtle Connection \ Kindergarden Kid Internet Connection. Yuck!

i use maxis bb for 2 days now..and i test at speedtest..the 1st is about 600kb/s,then i test it again 150 kb/s,3 time 300kb/s,4th time 400kb/s… really unstable…i don have enough infomation before i signed up with maxis bb.. i tot maxis bb is good….but i think ” Indah Khabar Dari Rupa”…now im very sad,feel been cheated…for 12 hours,i dc twice….

I am having problem with my streamyx. The customer service says that someone has stolen the JUMPER cable. So they need to replace a new jumper cable. Its been a week already.. been waiting and calling them like never ending story.. Anyone have experienced with jumper cable been stolen? Please share..

i’m not a maxis broadband user. but i’m maxis hp user. i use prepaid maxis. i felt that it also sucks. everytime i call my gf, after 5mins, the line will automatically cut off. i dunno why. i never wanna file a complain as it is useless. but i will spread this news to everyone in malaysia (if possible) that maxis is sux! hehe!

limit-usage did u think something about your account being monitoring? If you DN more than 3GB per month, probably after this you connection will be more slowly than before… I don’t know what they do.. before that i told you i got 300kbps average download rate… but for the next month later it going down below 80kbps average… no matter what i do that only speed that i get.. they limited my connection.. Of course it not impossible to do.. more look like netlimiter…

just make sure what the hell you’re using.. suggest bit comet 0.98… all things run smooth….
and yet… feb 08 just few days… my usage hit 4.35GB!
make sure who are suffering limit usage dun turn the modem 24 hours… make sure u type in 192.168.0.1 and turn the connection off… and on manually (for big potato modem option only, small thing NOT better…). if still too low… just shut it down for 12 hours…
hee hee… I using streamyx at office too… i can feel the speed… 166KB/s bt dl…

Final conclusion :
1) they are making a hellava money from their 1-800 number as there are charges to it ( that is what i’ve been told by their Cservice staff ) WTF
2) the USB moden is made from china which merely cost below RM20 bucks and they charge us a BOMM !!!!
3) their customer care centre are getting paid based on holding the line ..the more longer they hold the better …
4) They employ EX addicts to work as Customer care as some ARSE can’t even speak proper ENGLISH and no any knowledge to help you trouble shoot the problem.. DARMMM
5) the background sound from the Customer care is more lounder than being in BATU CAVES for thaipusam

The problem with a lot of people is…they have a comp, they have a connection then know how to google.com and youtube and P2P plus a little bit of format install they think they know evrything about computer. I bet they don’t event know how 3G/HSPDA and normal broadband works….3G/HSPDA uses the same thing as you guys are using to call you girlfriend,send sms-es….it’s RADIOWAVE, where else normal broadband like Streamyx sends signal through cables which u call your LAN n phoneline. So comparing Streamyx & 3G servicese is like comparing Batteries with you 3-pin outlet plug at ur wall…stick ur hand in that and u’ll understand wat i mean !

I totally agree with Along….i’m not supporting Maxis but “God D*mn It…if maxis and celcom and digi aren’t around who’s gonna kick Streamyx’s @$$ and make them improve. Streamyx ppl change to Screamyx because the customer service is simply ^SUPERB^ and the connections are oso ^SUPERB^,
Maxis…yet ppl changed it to Madxis coz some of them went and apply because they’re staying on building on par with Maxis Tower,others said is because they can’t download porn,and some say they had a nice line until some problem came up and started screwing.
Celcom….i’ve heard ppl changed it to SiaoCom coz the initial charges make u siao(crazy) as customers will need to pay RM400++ for a data card or a normal router modem and RM1000++ for a USB HSPDA modem.
The service i haven actually heard anyone complaining but i’m sure there’ll be someone starting a forum or a blog already…

I’ve been using the maxis usb broadband for 2 weeks now, paying a hefty RM138 Per Month; and all i have to say is that the connection sucks monkey balls most of the time since i’m living on the 13 th floor *lol* no wonder connectivity drops most of the time, usually during the wee hours of 2 to 6 am, getting stable HSDPA is much easier usually its just UMTS or worse EDGE :( since you cant use torrent programs that just makes things much more better eh?
In the mean while accessing msn messenger takes 2 to 5 tries, but at least limewire is working xD

Legal or not we are still the one at disadvantage…best is to read b4 u put a signature on it. I personally think that every single party that tries to provide broadband service should be given a chance by Malaysians doesn’t matter whether it’s Maxis,Celcom,Digi,iZZi or any upcoming country. It’s time to break TM’s monopoly on the ISP industry. Remember once upon a time when Celcom used to monopoly the cellphone lines…their service is pathetic then come the other network provider and now look at the rates and discounts we have. Hello, I’m using maxiss wireless bb as well. Living in Damansara Utama. Have been subscribed it for the past one year. Took the RM98 package, although actually being charged for RM 118 (inclusive of the 017 phone rental which I have never used it before). Service, so-so, only recently saw that sometimes the speed can be very fast. I also often experience frequent disconnection, once is 2 days where you need to reset the modem.
After going through all these, I believe its therefore important for us consumer to read the Terms anc Conditions prior to signing up anything. People often neglect this as we normally skip this part, in anything that we sign up for, whether during installing softwares, subscribe to services, etc.
Another reason I belive that maxis wireless bb becomes slow because we are sharing the bandwidth with normal 3g phone users. I saw one article from maxis back in 2006, when they were bidding for the wimax spectrum that they admitted that they need wimax for their broadband as the increase no. in hsdpa would clog out the already congested 3g network. So I believe its getting worst.
Once contract finish, will switch to fixed line bb back.

hurm..maybe maxis centre in cheras is much efficient than the one in KLCC.one of my friends went to maxis centre KLCC because of the ZTE modem failure.but the people there declined to admit the ZTE’s failure (they didnt even checked the ZTE) and insist of giving a new sim card at rm50 instead.lol..must try at maxis cheras then.the purpose of Maxis line soon will be “hello,may i know if there’s someone in maxis centre now who could give a help?i would like to meet him/her later” =P

Under the T&C of Maxis broadband…once u’re signed up u’ll be tied to the contract for 18 months and after the contract expires it will automatically renew itself to another 18 months unless the customer or Maxis give 1 month written notice to terminate service. By the way…i think if you want to terminate the contract b4 18 months u must write in to Maxis and provide reasonable reasons such as u’re shifting to a no coverage area or if the service is below average standard. It’s all stated clearly at the registration form which you fill during registration…

Try to take some time and visit the Maxis Centre instead of just calling…they can solve your problem more efficiently and faster. My fren had problem with his Maxis Broadband and decided to return it got his refund of RM100 without questions…just sign a form and evrything is done. (BTW, he did it at Maxis Centre, Taman Segar Cheras)

First they say its rm 98 without telling about the contract.
Then they will tell you that the contract is 18 months after using,
for rm 98, then they suddenly charge line fee. After telling them I only applied for broadband so they stopped the line and later tell me extend another 18 months contract. I think police should take a look into this cheating case of maxis broadband. I think goverment should look into this cheating broadband case. they should not have contract without customer knowing about it and extended the contract as they want more business and afraid losing business.

Yeah…and one more thing, i’m personally doing test on Maxis…invested on the RM68 Advance Package jz to see whether things are as bad as wat u’ve guys had said and found out a few things….bad connections are usually at a few areas. The ability of being able to on9 whenever u are for juz RM68 is honestly too cheap to be true, i’m in the IT industry and travels quite a lot within Selangor. Being able to on9 in the car, while having lunch, paying one payment for 2 connections both in office and at house (coz i can carry the modem back) is honestly convinient yet cheap.

I totally agree on DrCommunication…please do not compare Streamyx & Maxis BB 2gether, they are 2 different things. For those who keep complaining that u guys/gals can’t download things through p2p do read that Maxis did tell about the Fair Usage Policy under T&C. I’ve colleagues from china and guess wat….users in M’sia should be grateful as u guys are using dynamic IPs from Streamyx…back in China all connections are static IP and if u were caught to exceed the bandwith usage within office hours your connection will be barred. This is still not enforced in M’sia so try to look things at different ways instead on releasing your anger blindly…i think non of the above who complains read the T&C b4 applying for Maxis BB. Please dun feel cheated for ur own mistake…

im staying at wangsa maju.Im using maxis wireless broadband (pakej rm138 per month).Just using 2days only but the line is so terrible! Always disconnect,line is really really slow! the most funny thing is when i try to connect in the room the results is totally USELESS!. Im paying rm100 already but can i terminate the service?i dont mind losing the rm100 but better than have to wait for the 18months right? i feel cheated,sad,dissapointed from the promised and all the after sales service from the maxis.

The connection is never stable. I get at least 5 disconnections every night! Once you are connected, you may not even have the HSDPA a.k.a Super 3G speed. The Customer Service hotline is always busy.
Got lousy network and customer service. Yet, i have to pay RM138/month for 12 months. Really frustrated to the MAX! MCMC should take actions against this operator!!!
I used DiGi data service before. The connection was much better than the Maxis; seldom dropped. The only drawback was too slow as it did not have 3G then, only the GPRS/Edge connection. Perhaps, Digi will improve after merging with Time .NET.

i’m using celcom broadband in gombak area.my sim card was activated within 24hours from registration day.since the datacard by celcom was too expensive for me (RM799), i searched for cheaper one & found it on this http://www.3gcard.myceloteh.com for RM510.ppl said dat celcom didnt separate d bandwidth of 3G n HSDPA.maybe some of u might get 3G connection on HSDPA bandwidth,like me.as d result,i’m surfing at d max 3G speed of 384kbps.sure we cant compare it to wired broadband.
one of my friend was forced to pay around RM100 after 2 weeks using d trial maxis bb when he returned back d modem.it was because of d t&c on 3GB limit.my friend exceeded d limit.so there wil b extra charge on extra bytes.

Just tested with system mechanic net speed. It says avergae speed of 14kbps, with peak 53.04kbps. But when using the maxis web site test, it says 322kbps dwn speed? what the f^^^.

I subsrcibed RM98 per month package and tested the connection at the 1st day… WOW! The connection boost till 1MBps+…sure its good for wireless.. But now, after 3rd day..its not even reach 200kbps!! And my modem show the connection is HSPDA!!! Waa!! Limited connection for unlimited package?
And more..maxis limit the data transfer at only 3gb? What a bullshit! It is a month! maybe 3gb a week still can considerable..but a month? With your mind given by the god…think bout it!

i’ve been using maxis bb (starter pack, 384kbps) for about 2 weeks and so far it’s quite good. i think it all depends on your location. i used streamyx before and it really sux.will have problem everytime i try to connect. for those who kept getting connected using GPRS (super slow connection), it means that the hsdpa n 3G signal in ur area is weak.however, u can ‘force’ the modem to connect using 3G/hsdpa. go to 192.168.0.1->network select->only wcdma. but if its really2 weak..the modem will not be able to connect and u have to use gprs.hmm..i think this thing is like a lucky draw where the winners are chosen based on ur location..so..gud luck!

Well, after reading this page, I find it quite funny how maxis deals with its customers. It’s so funny that it made me cry.
You guys are my saviors! If I didn’t google about maxis broadband, I will never ever find about this page and the truth behind it.
Heck, I’m living in the Taman Paramount district and I have no connection of whatsoever of maxis broadband plans. The promoter kept telling me to try the service coz he said, MAYBE there’s a blind spot in my area that can get the broadband connection. Bullshit! My friends can’t even receive it. Lucky them that maxis is kind enough to give us the 7 day trial.
Is there a bandwidth limit for maxis broadband?
5.3 Excessive Usage
5.3.1 Each customer’s total usage per month shall NOT exceed 3GB of data volume transmitted (total upload and download usage). This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times.
5.3.2 If a customer wishes to use more than the volume permitted, a written request should be made to Maxis.
5.3.3 Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated.

Streamyx is good enough for me for now (120-170 kbps avg).. but I think of it as STILL SLOW. Really, I was tempted at the 3.6 Mbps download speed you know. LOL! When I was living in the hostel in my university, I can get 1.8 Mbps when traffic is clear…

Me 2 get con. When ask the salesperson, they say my area is 3.59G coverage. Ok..la then subscribe with them. The next hour till today I’m only getting EDGE speed connection. This is totally crap. I think dial-up modem is much faster then this…. If it’s giving 300Kbps, I have been happy surf the net but not with 27Kbps. Does best effort mean I have to live with 27Kbps and paying RM98.00 for it? What say you all?

Maxis BB : I was one of the first to apply for the RM 50 big ass modem package. They never did come over to install it. Waited some 6 to 8 months. Numerous calls with promises that were never complied with. Then I toll them I never want to see the thing ever again, thank you. Dun even try to replace your fixed broadband (Streamyx) by using Maxis Broadband… unless you have no choice.
Lim Tat, sure Maxis dun allow we do this. Port forwarding is not accessible by us. If you using ZTE model, try to thing why thing can connect with the “DIAG” port just behind the antenna. If you very unsatisfied, please SUE maxis! We can’t help you to cold down the anger for that!

there are many complain about maxis i am stying at beranang the speed of internet maxis broadband its quite ok from what i subscribe just a starter pekage and just get UMTS i have no prob with p2p just gwt 5-40 kbps maxx anytime just using proxy even to surft the web. i thing to upgrade to advance UMTS can go more than 384kbps it change to advance pekage?

Thx 4 the advise. I personally went 2 Pikom PC fair at JB Persada on Sunday 16 Dec. And trial on the Maxis wireless at Persada complex, the speed (3G) is quite comparable with Streamyx 1Mpbs. When I open youtube website 4 watching video clip. So far download speed is faster than video play speed (no hang issue). But maxis sales person really don let customer try 4 broadband access. I don know y? Maybe no confident. I’m still observe any contructive feedback, b4 decided 4 tie on with any wireless service provider.

You know nothing is perfect here, u’ll have been using mobile phone in this country far too long, sometimes signal ok, stimes not ok, this is normal. They adv 3.6, but no garuntee.

I advice dun buy this cock hell modem. I was playing dota and it disconnected, fine thats ok but then it couldnt connect back.Thats when i got pissed off and nearly threw it across the room. A person can die and revive before the webpage loads. once wimax is releaced burn the maxis modem. so go to hell lah maxis. cheat pl only

I’ve just subscribed to maxis bb 384kps and is damn slow. Im not using it for heavy usage only surfing and chatting but so slow..I log on the page and found out that my connection is edge, last time i call the helpdesk and they ask me to switch the band selection mode to WCDMA only then it shows no light on the RSSI. What does it mean? Im still in my first week trial period, thinking to terminate the service. Some comment?

malaysian still doesn’t understand how’s all these comm. tech works behind,
yet only expect the best.
For instance, a promise of up to 3.6 Mbps is a theoretical speed based on physics calculation,
it is hard to achieve that in real life due to many circumstances,
wireless comm. tech is something based in wave frequency,
one that is fragile.
All factors like distance from transmitter tower, population of users in one area, geological factors, walls, height, frequency interference etc does effect its performance.
Also, note that maxis’s has clear policy on their service,
malaysian should have a such culture to read all t&c b4 subscribe to any kind of services.
maxis is absolutely not welcome p2p, will capped your speed if you’re heavy user due to fair usage policy etc…if you don’t agree, please look for other.
Btw, currently, im using maxis bite2go(phone as modem broadband),
and I am happy with it.

haha… If you think your speed is very low like 384kbps… you can lower down the package to starter plan… today just upgrade power plan… cos my place got the station…

if u just want to browse the internet ,check the email or download small file, i guest its ok for u to have the maxisbb… i telling you my xp,2 hours surfing required me to restart the modem for more than 2 times because every 15 or 30 minutes the connection will dropped from hsdpa to gprs(gprs=no connection).IF u’re lucky enough,the connection will stayed for 3 or 4 hours on hsdpa or umts mode-i always got the edge or super-duper-slow gprs mode *poor me… if u have to do your job based on the VPN connection i suggest u not to subscribe this service, go get the tmnut or jaring for stable conn. . .
the fact is – maxisbb is for kids, so they can see more learn more bla bla bla :~(

Guys, there is something I would like to ask..Recently I found that my area was covered with Celcom HSDPA, and I was able to download at speeds around 180-210 Kbps..However, for the past week, the maximum I get was around 40 Kbps, and I am using the 384 Kbps package / rm 68..Can they (Celcom) limit our download speeds in HSDPA area if we’re using the 384 Kbps ???

Ken, It is true. Maxis will thread it as a TRIAL period… if you return within 7 days… I just called and ask the customer service… After termination, the bill will still come… but they will waive the charges… so no need pay the bill… My student also having such a problems…
3.6mbps only work at 3 am to 8.30 am daily… my modem is working for me when i sleep… BT not block as well… I managed to use 44.15 GB bandwidth to transmit without problems…at Oct 07.
oh… crowz … that’s too bad for you… try to apply something more convenient… like streamyx.. if nearby got people using them. read my reply above… about the test in same building, difference location… maybe got a lot of people in your place using maxis bb? Not like selayang, no people use… i enjoy the single line without sharing with other…

I just subscribed to MaxisBB Power Plan (RM98) for 4 days.
Realize it the speed is not stable.
I used the Speed meter test provided by Maxis, most of the time the meter is telling my speed is only 500kbps or below… where I suppose the speed can go up to 3.6mbps!! Way too far for what they are promoting…
They have a cooling off policy where those just subscribe for 7 days or less, can get the whole return and no single cent charge. Not too sure this is true.
The reason why I switch to Maxis is because Streamyx need me to pay for the phone which I don’t use. RM66 (Streamyx) + RM26 rental of phone, plus some calls it is about the RM98 of MaxisBB…
I give it a few more days before I go for the cancellation.
I some how believe Maxis is going to improve the connection very fast, as they also do not want to lose their customer.

im starting using maxis bb since aug 07, for the 1st month its give me a fair signal and i was so satisfied with the service provided to me which i subscribed to rm68 package and i get 320-430kbps …..after a month im having a very very difficult to connection problems …even its connected the signal give me only around 27.5-90kbps only….when i call d cust service they told me, maxis is upgrading the system….so i wait for another weeks… it still da same….so i call up again and they told me the different story! this time they asked me to switch off the modem…and turn it on another 1/2 an hour, so i did…but the same thing happened(slow slow slow) and then i called again, this time they asked to changed the modem position to another place..so i did, but stil da same….. then i called them again….this time they told me to leaved my phone number and their technician will call me back asap…….after a day they called me, this time they asked me to log-in 192.168.0.1 and asked me to read the rssi code to them as they can helpp me to solve this stupid problems……after a week i really cannot tahan anymore because the signal is stil the same ….. this is the last time i called them, again they make story…. they told me the signal will be strong if i stay lower where i stay at 5th floor….. so i was thinking to drill a hole 100meter to the ground wer maxis bb can give me a good signal……am im rite? ‘the deeper the hole the better signal u get’

Oh… I realize something… A just have a test yesterday about the maxis wireless broadband. It is VERY sensitive about the location you at.
Signal will follow your location, even in same office 2nd floor, Kepong Prima.
With windows open: Signal given HSDPA ( 3.5 G)
With windows closed and have about 4m away from windows: (UMTS-3G)
Inside the room with partition as obstacles: EDGE-2.75
The inner room with 2 partitions as obstacles and cement as wall: It drops to 2.5G, which is the worse one….
Umm… See the RSSI=Ratio to Signal Strength Indicator, Which in green stable light=3.5G, which blinking=UMTS, Which off=EDGE or GPRS…
DEPENDING…the location…. So next time I will try DIGI EDGE and CELCOM 3G if my friends owed it..

If you wanna download from p2p network, forgot about wireless, including celcom 3g also will band p2p download to make sure fair-policy usage! Soonly, Streamyx also will disallow user to download from ANY p2p, started already in AMPANG Chinese area!
Question: Can your streamyx follow(portable and freely move to the place that are no fixed telephone line!) to you to anyway? What for you use un-needed things? Choose the type of broadband that suite your living style!

the speed show 100mbps (mega-bit-per second) is equal 12.5MB/s(12.5 Mega Bytes) speed between your maxis broadband modem to your pc network adapter! and the speed you can test the on line speed live by using bandwidthmonitor pro. Search it in google!

NO! It is not true. Not every communication system in wireless mode faces service disturb EVERY TIME while raining! I try before, the speed maintain constant and stable during raining day. But only some risk, thunder strike and electric supply lost during transmission. P2P software are partially block only! Try not to use the software u mention… Swith to Xun Lei if you know chinese, Every night (11pm-8am) I successfully download average 1.8 GigaByte and above from XL and BitComet ! I using 384 kbps(max speed=48 KB/s but it can run till 150KB/s according to BWMP!)
try to create one Maybank, you will enjoy a lot of benefits! REALLY. “Paybills” mean every bills! Including saman from MPS…DBKL… CIMB paybill may give you charging and sometime no work! Positive attitude! See your location, coverage and the place you stay (for some high building, connection maybe blocked!) You can also request your friend bring de modem to your palce and test it. See the SIGNAL connection whether is HSPDA(3.5G), UTMS(3G), EDGE(2.75G), GPRS(2.5G) by pressing 192.168.0.1 after connected to your network card.

It’s actually kinda surprising how the definition of high speed internet access has changed drastically over the years. Because 5 years ago, when I was at my brother’s place in Singapore,a 512kbps broadband line loads a flash website in only a matter of seconds. 5 years later, Maxis’s 3.2 Mbps High Speed Internet Access takes 10 secs to load Google. I must have missed out on the referendum to change the definition of high speed from actual broadband to slightly better than dial-up.
It’s disheartening, really, when people boast that their product can reach UP TO 3.6 Mbps for RM98 and 512kbps for RM78 and the reality really leaves much to be desired. For 98 bucks, I really have a peak speed of around 500kbps or less. When asked, the sale people expressed surprise because “people usually get around 300 kbps in this area”. I don’t remember hearing that when they promote their product. (I wonder how much speed can the RM78 package go. Perhaps as fast as dial-up, hopefully). The speed they say is fastest in the lower floors of my condo (I stay in the 1st floor) and generally everyone is VERY satisfied with their service (No complains so far, the lady chants). The highest speed their customer ever got in Klang Valley, according to them, is 2.6Mbps. Which brings me back to the question – why did they promote and claimed that the line can reach 3.6 Mbps when no one gets that?
But then again,300 kbps is really within “up to 3.6 Mbps”, the sales person says. And so is zero. So I think I should just live with getting 0 kbps because it’s still “up to 3.6 Mbps”. Having said that, I would also hope that all Maxis staff and executives enjoy equal consumer privileges as those they’ve dished out at us. Living up to their own standards is the word I’m looking for. I can really imagine them being fully satisfied when any of the below incidences occur to them:
On a slimming product,
Maxis: Hey, your Auta-Liar Slimming Cream promised to help me lose UP TO 10kgs, I’ve lost 10 grammes. Wow! your product works! Thanks so much!
On a Car,
Maxis: Wow Protodua Penipu claims to reach UP TO 300kmh and I could reach 60 kmh. That’s great!

If I’m not mistaken, Maxis is a multinational company that is the forerunner of the Malaysian economy. What a great way to represent the transparency and honesty of Malaysian commerce. I’m sure Ananda Krishnan will be more than happy to earn his money the right way rather than cheating his fellow countrymen. Maybe he can start by actually reforming the whole Maxis Narrowband technical department (e.g sacking people) and also dissolving the B.E.E.B.U (Bluff Everyone Else But Us) division.
P/s: I’ve tried applying for Maxis in March this year and they lost my form. TWICE. And they promised to call back and never did. TWENTY TIMES. But after I heard that they’ve relaunched their service I thought I’d give them a try. Big mistake.

Been using maxis wireless for about 5 month now, play voyage century online game. Connection is very good. HSDPA connection gives about 380kb/s (i signed for 384kb/s ) speed. Everything wireless suck when it rain.
Does not support p2p program like torrent and limewire.
I always had problem paying the bil since i am working. I don’t have the free time to go to the post office. I don’t have a maybank2u account. only CIMB click bank. Anyone know if i can pay this maxisbb online with CIMB? could you please give me some guide how to?

Have been using Maxis Broadband Ultimate (768kbps) which they upgrade to Power plan (Up to 3,6mbps). The connection in the PJS 8/9 Mentari Business area, is REALLY-2 BAD. At first, they said that they will upgrade in SEPT (well, it’s a bluff), and the connection is ACTUALLY FAST only during OCTOBER, near and during Idul Fitri ONLY. The connection is only quite fast for the day time, but starting from 9 to midnight, the download speed can be 3kbps using Mozilla Firefox, in most US website, and 6kbps for singapore, and malaysian website. The connection is down almost all the time, about 15 days is useable, but very slow, and 3-4 days is quite fast, and down for 11-12 days disconnected all the time.
The Provider provide more bluffs than it’s performance, customer service is so bad that they don’t even know their own product knowledge, and the hold time, including background sound is really annoying which make it seems that they are trying to prevent us from calling them. There are nothing such as a customer service in their centre, and the only things that they have is a lot of promoter in a lot of areas. This is a real Bluff Broadband provider which is far worst than TMnet itself.
(The speed can reach to 100++, but only for less than 10 hours a month in average)

i jz subscribe maxis bb rm68(384kbps) for 1 week only…for first 2 days i feeling i change from streamyx to maxis bb is worth…bcoz when i dl p2p even can reach 150kbps fast than streamyx rm77(1mbps) package..after 2days i feel i m regret..bcoz even want sign in msn also cant…n then when i want surf to hotmail.com o msn.com also cant too..what a crap….
so the nxt day i try calling to their customer service but hardly to talk as the phone line seem to have a “construction background sound” and i try to use diff phone to call them but still they make it availabe.WTF…

BROABDAND UNDERINVESTED & UNCOMPETITIVE
Internet services provided by Telekom Malaysia has been down for the past week or so, different time in different area.
There are few problems I could see Malaysians are facing in relation to internet access. It is my honour if I could get your attention sharing the plights we are facing.
When expectations failed, customers should be given choices to uptake other services felt suitable, unfortunately we are to do so in current Malaysia situation.
Many customers signed up for attractive Streamyx plans offered by Telekom Malaysia which tied them up for the next 12 months, 24 months or so. While both sides have their commitment to honour the contract until its expiry, the plans were taken up in view of excellent services assured.
Multiple downtimes every year is not an expectation we can be contented with.
This is as if one purchases a two-year voucher for a restaurant food. But if they start serving rot food, do we have to consume it for the rest of the year?
With Malaysia’s aim to be an IT hub, it is wise to compare us with international
standard of countries, where the Information Services are well ahead of others. Take OECD countries for example:
1) Their termination rates are low and even able to terminate current contracts with low penalty.
Malaysia: We are fully tied to the long-term contracts with no option to terminate even with reasonable penalty.
2) It encourages competition by forcing Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) to lower prices and improve services.
(LLU :- will we split Telekom into three separate operating companies, including wholesaling the internet infrastructure to its competitors?)
Malaysia: It is obvious Telekom’s been given the advantage ahead of others, has in a monopolistic position and its arm’s owned the back bone of Malaysia’s broadband access infrastructure. Oher providers can only operate in certain area and region.
3) Most OECD have continuous improvement of services throughout year on year basis. Many OECD countries are offering broadband bandwidth of over 30 Mbps.
Malaysia: The top two most popular broadband plans – 0.5Mbps and 1Mbps bandwidth have been in operation for more than more than 7 years?
(Even Thailand and Singapore way surpassed Malaysia at least 10Mbps for years).
Malaysia has only started planning to build infrastructure capable of up to 100Mbps.
With it, why is Malaysia able to commit it will support 10% of its capability?
4) Most OECD countries aiming for above 90% household broadband uptake by lowering prices and building infrastructure for rural areas
Malaysia : In our mission to be an IT hub, why did Telecommunication Minister allow lowering the target from 75% to 50%, just to have a sense of accomplishment? Why Malaysia underinvested?
Are we allowing ourselves to widen the gap with countries that are on IT forefronts? When will we be able to cater high speed internet ALL Malaysians?

I just don’t know. is maxis broadband suck or what. I lived near curve but still experiencing difficulties in connection. DC a lot, as a stater, i took the cheaper plan , lowest bandwidth and its really disappointed, try callin their cust serv but hardly to talk as the phone line seem to have a “construction background sound”. try to use diff phone but still they make it availabe.What a crap. but lately they introduce new way to get online. lke to try, but if it still like before better use yur office internet line laa.. and take along ur bantal buuk.. hehehhee. hope to get better sevice and worth for every penny wireless bradband…

When I first register for the RM68 (384KB) package when it first launched, Maxis actually gives us the 768KB (RM99) package instead RM68 price. I did not realise so I thought the performance is really faster than my current Streamyx hence I just ship and register for it.
After some month has passed by, I felt the performance is slower only than I noticed now they are giving me the 384KB package when my registration is entittled to.
I do felt cheated by this!

Guys, no too sure whats all the issue about, I just got a little cute modem for RM138 a month – truly mobile, contract for 18-months (similar to all the operators in my studying days in US) IF NOT we need to BUY the modem upfront for around RM1000 (like Celcom’s offer).
I find the service good and get around 300-500kbps, watching You Tube and video streaming no problem…. Suits my lifestyle, as I need connection whereever I am. the modem works on GPRS -> EDGE -> 3G -> HSDPA or 3.5G, its great!

I use Celcom 3g unlimitted. 384kb/s. Ok for browsing but not for dl… only RM68/month…. better use streamyx lol…

at least it’s better than maxis.i’ve tried it in 17th floor of my friend’s apartment and it’s so damn slow and always got disconnected.celcom is much better even digi is more better than maxis!!!!!

dan kau testing speedtest.net tu untuk ke usa host…memang lar beza.
i wont define that maxis is blardy stingy to open their ports especially to msn ports. you can try and try until it gets to connect to msn and dc for you suddenly…..

plz!!! dun compare wireless with wire!!! just compare maxis 3G with celcom 3G wireless can’t fight with wire alway!!!! even now we still using cable to connect to US but not satalie…!!! wave farm transfer is sux!!! im also maxis broadband user… if u are a online gamer or dler pls used back streamyx as well…. maxis peer to peer just open at night!!! and dc very constantly!! but if u are just online for check mail and hope to get cheat and wireless that online u take this sux broadband for on9

I am using Jaring wireless. It’s quite good despite the fact that we are living outside the coverage area. I live in a condo, 10th floor. Maybe that is why the connection is better.
Maybe you guys can try out. No down time even when there was a storm!

yup.. f**king maxis blotbend.
i’m using its in a klcc park, i’m getting only 3g speed. try to download nirvana song, its take 1/2 hour to complete. when u col their hotline they tell aaa to donlod lagu u need to wait at 1am till 6 am. what the f**k

Anyones know how to complain to maxis broadband?i was 4 days cant online already…
i find the whole maxis website to also cant find the phone numbers.i dun know why i cant to online, really burn!!!the problems was keep on appears, say the DNS cant to run.I was try to restart my laptop n the suck moderm many times already. but still cant to online.
so i hope can get a help from here. thx.

actually maxis broadband speed and connectivity really depends on where u use it. refer to their website. im in ttdi excellent connection. no complains. took it to putrajaya can connect but at 3G speed, slower. check their map. if u using it in like kampung sungai attap, sure slow la.

i’d advise you not to change.
i am currently using maxis wireless broadband. have been tried using it in Subang and also in Penang. da connection at both areas suck a lot.
1st thing – very extremely slow. sometimes its better to use dial up.
2nd thing – i hav no idea why does my modem often “hang”….or maybe da connection itself hangs. it happens like few times a day and i’ll hafta power cycle the adapter and da modem.
3rd – juz like what the others said, it always dc.
4th – i cant even log in to my own msn acc when using maxis broadband and was forced to switch new acc.
complain about streamyx? what about maxis?
trust me, u wil love streamyx if you were to experience this.

What about Celcom wireless broadband? RM99 unlimited well… minus the HSDPA. Any comments on that?

hey…thanks for the warning, i tot of switching streamyx to maxis broadband (try to support wireless industry)…after hearing all these comments, i’d be better off using fixed line streamyx afterall. One sad note…we malaysians don’t have much choice like more advance countries, one day when our wireless is as good as the US, maybe telekom will consider to lower their chrages…for now either take it or leave it!! We need people like tony fernandes to shake the industry (like what they did to MAS)…now even MAS has budget flights!!!

I am using Maxis Broadband…Maxis Broadband is no very fast also…when connect to outside website ,et : china website,it will become very slow..only connect to Malaysia Website or Singapura Website and Asia Website will be fast…and the speed will awalys change …sometimes is HSDPA (3G +)..but sometimes change to UTMS (3G) speed only…i don’t know why this happen…and quiet hard to connect to MSN Message..only just good thing is…downloading in Asia Server is fast ..

i tried it in my home at Rawang…only supports 3G on not Hi-Speed 3G…was super slow and constantly disconnects.
i took them thing down to Port Dickson and it was fast…so i guess it depends on your location. do take note that if u exceed the 30 day trial…your bill would be around RM290. luckily mine got waived.
