Remember that last time Opera launched its 10-year online anniversary party that they give away free complimentary registration codes for 24 hours. Well since I’ve got mine, I decided to merge Opera and make use of that code to remove that damn banner. It’s actually the banner that make me uncomfortable.
Like most other browser nowdays it is very customizable and functional. Besides it is feature-rich, and it is more of a complete suite. The browsing speed is extremely fast, and I find it better than Firefox but yet Firefox extension that’s really rocks my world!
Opera additional features include built-in advanced download support features. Opera totally outclass Firefox download manager. For the first time using Opera, it really impressed me alot.
Inspired by Opera transfer or download manager, I found an extension that tweak the Firefox download manager to behave like Opera web browser called Download Manager Tweak.
After installing the extension, you’ll probably need to configure the download manager window settings. Select preferences > Downloads > Download Manager Tweak(Options) > Download Manager window > Open in tab.
Rather than a pop up download window it’s better to open in tab right?
The Download Manager Tweak extension allows the Firefox download manager to be opened in a separate window, the sidebar, or a tab. The extension also modifies the default appearance of the download manager to make it more concise and intuitive.
Disable Targets For Downloads extension is also needed to complete the tweaking, which eliminates blank window to be opened that usually happen when you try to download a binary file.
As the result, you will have your Firefox download manager appearance a bit similar to Opera. But in some cases, Opera transfer manager are much more reliable than Firefox, especially with resuming and downloading large files.
