Stock Market Seasonal Patterns

Seasonal patterns in markets like agriculture makes sense - people can understand those even without being a farmer. Certain plants are seasonal and there it just not a lot that people can do to change that cycle. These natural cycles are then reflected in the prices of things like grain and corn. Do seasonal patterns occur in the stock market? They seem to be much more subtle, but when you look at the data the patterns do begin to emerge. For instance, take a look at the seasonal analysis for Google. Scroll down the calendar and you can see some months are mostly green - up days for Google - and some are red. Perhaps there are some interesting patterns that can be pulled from this data.
