Deny users by IP address

Look at this domain insane ‘deny from’ list in my .htaccess (Hypertext Access). It was originally generated on November 2005 but I stop updating it since early February 2006. It’s sort of my first line of defense before akismet. Actually there’s more but I only like to show only the banned IP address instead. Ya ya I know it’s lame but it’s fun to see those IP address got denied from my apache error log :P

The list is semi-automatically generated from various server (hosted in Malaysia) and my friends blog httpd apache access log.

Drop me a comment if you found any of the banned IP address is a mistake.

ADDED: Check out this article ‘An introduction to mod_security‘ by Johan Svensson. According to the author, … article that shows the advantages of mod_security over stopping spam by using mod_rewrite

ADDED: It looks like Ben Sherratt from Nybble Labs came up with an idea to combine htaccess and akismet. htakismet is a plugin for Wordpress that will create a list of blocking rules for your .htaccess file based on the ‘kills’ that the Wordpress Akismet plugin makes. htakismet will add IPs that spam you to it’s ‘offence table’ and block repeat offenders from accessing your site.
